The We Care Housing Shelter’s Motivations springs from our Christian values and this scripture from the holy bible defines our core principles:

  • “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, – I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’(Matthew 25:35-36)

In an aim to combat homelessness we aim to run hostels across Hertfordshire for single homeless people between 18 and 60. Our mission is to support each resident for up to two years so that they can move on to safe accommodation and a more stable lifestyle, helping them belong, contribute and thrive within their local communities.

We Are Helping The Homeless And Marginally Homeless In Watford By Providing And Offering Free Meal, Freshly Cooked Foods, Soft Drinks And A Wide Range Of Fresh Tea & Coffee, Cloths, Gifts, Money, Counselling & Prayers, Free Educational Training, Free Internet Browsing & WiFi, Live Music Events, Film Nights, Art Exhibitions And Much More.

People come to live at our “We Care hostels” for a variety of reasons, but most often these are linked to the breakdown of family relationships or social exclusion. As a result we find many people are not just in need of housing & residential support, but also need help to rebuild their self-confidence, develop life skills, and overcome personal issues such as alcohol misuse. The “We Care housing” team is committed to offering both practical and emotional support for each resident within a friendly environment.

As well as providing residents with access to a wide range of social events and activities, our team of support workers is available to assist and guide residents through their time at We Care Housing, whether they need help managing debt, training and educational courses, or referral to external specialist support agencies.

In addition, we offer information about other important services for the vulnerable, including a Bible Study group. The Trustees, Director and Welcomer provide basic advice and refer guests to other agencies with different specialities. We seek to provide assistance in a variety of ways, including help with letters and phone calls, liaising with social services, and encouragement and prayer.

Support for The Housing Shelter comes from individuals, corporations and trusts. Volunteers and donations (both financial and in-kind) are vital to support our work and enable us to continue this service to the community.
